On September 12th 1962 at Rice University In Houston, President John F Kennedy gave his memorable speech in which he committed America to putting a man on the moon before the end of the decade.
The president famously declared
‘We choose to go to the moon.” “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.”
At the time of making this commitment the USA were nowhere near being able to deliver on this promise; in contrast to previous Soviet lunar exploration triumphs in 1959, success eluded initial U.S. efforts to reach the Moon with the Pioneer and Ranger programs. Prior to President Kennedy’s speech 13 consecutive U.S. unmanned lunar missions had all failed their primary missions and the goal set by their Commander in Chief seemed further away than the Moon itself and yet, despite this on 21st July 1969 Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon

In order to achieve huge success you need to make a commitment, set a date by which it will be achieved and make that goal inspirational
The Difference between success and failure is that successful people set inspirational goals with a specific date that they will be met. Not only this, they paint a picture of how achieving that goal will improve their life and the lives of those around them and make the vision real even before it has actually happened
Successful people do not wait until everything is safe and perfect before they act. They will ‘act without knowing;’ making a leap of faith into their future so their success can catch up with them.
How many times have you waited to read every course or article about a subject before committing to it, if you ever did at all? I was fortunate to be at a business conference a few years ago in which Neil Armstrong gave the keynote speech. He described the feeling as he was strapped into what was basically a huge roman Candle at the beginning of a journey from which he may never have returned and thinking ‘Oh well I’ve gone and done it now!’
Sometimes we have to just get on board and start out on the journey even though we could crash and burn

It is a lot easier to change the direction of something that is already in motion. For 99% of the journey to The Moon they were off course and would never have landed safely but it was through many small corrections that they ended up at the correct destination

Set an inspirational goal with an outcome that will improve your life and which you can see, hear and feel and you can already believe has happened
Don’t sit on the fence or be a master of everything before you take action; take a leap of faith and get started even if you have no idea of what you are doing – even if you are heading in the wrong direction you can make corrections later so that you arrive at your destination
