How To Conquer Your Fear And Anxiety through The Dr Pepper Method- What’s The Worst That Could Happen?

Fear is  the little culprit which prevents most of us from achieving our potential.  It is no respector of desire and creeps into a subconscious, like Quick dry cement, setting hard as rock around the dreams which we hold so dear Here are some tips to help you conquer your fear and anxiety through what I like to call the Dr Pepper method – ask yourself ‘what is the worst that can happen’?

To give you an example we all have a phonecall that we put off, it hangs around our necks like a ball and chain all day long, day after day, sometimes we are worried what the person may say to us or what the ramification may be. Sometimes we are needing to make a big decision and are simply finding it incredibly frightening.

Fear paralizes us. It freezes our brains and stops us thinking clearly. I for one, will not only try to put off a task which I consider scary, but also try to put it to the back of my mind…problem with that is that it has this awful habit of popping up again, uninvited at the most inopportune times…for me when I am doing something social or (and this the worst) in the middle of the night…both at times when I am unlikely to be able to do much about it but WORRY!!!

If something like that is hanging over you there are a number of things to remember that will happen if you do NOT do something about it.

You will get very little sleep because you will be worrying so much. This in turn will make you really tired in the daytime, which will mean that normally tasks which wouldn’t have bothered you, will start to cause you angst.

It will stop you concentrating with all the other tasks as this one will sit on your shoulder like a little niggly devil.

For the bigger decisions, you will start to resent yourself for not having done anything about it…self loathing can creep in and then next thing you know you are in spiral of negativity.

So why do we let this happen? I for one, get “ Fuzzy Brain” when scared. My brain refuses to work, like stubborn toddler not wanting to go to bed. It won’t even let me consider consequences.

There is a magic question, the mastery of which will CHANGE you life…..

What’s the worst that can happen?

Ask yourself that question and then ask yourself

Can I live with that?

If you can, just go for it, and most of the time a worst case scenario is exactly that – a scenario.

This also applies to major life decisions too. Do I change jobs, should I set up on my own, should I become a monk?…If you can live with downsides…just do it.

There is power in the mindset of What’s the worst that can happen? And Just do it….you will recognise then as the slogans of two major league successful brands – Dr Peppers and Nike.

They are used for a reason. They are positive and move things forward.

So procrastinate and prevaricate no longer…what’s the worst that could happen…Just do it!
